PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has pleaded not guilty for allegedly committing the city’s first homicide of the year.
Court records indicate David Stone, 39, made the plea at an arraignment hearing Thursday afternoon, days after a grand jury indicted him on charges of First-Degree Murder.
Stone – arrested in South Peoria – allegedly committed the January 4 shooting in the Center Bluff area that claimed the life of Arlin Bermudez, 34.
Stone – who also asked for a jury trial – could have one as soon as March 11th. Another hearing in the case is scheduled for February 29th.
He remains jailed in the meantime.
