PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Rescue Ministries is now PATHWAY Ministries.
The organization’s Executive Director John Rocke says the new name aligns with a focus on long-term change, not just emergency services.
“When they come in…yes we’re going to offer compassionate safety, shelter, stability, but then we’re going to invite them on a pathway out of poverty,” Rocke says.
The shift, Rocke tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, is toward programs focused on lasting life change.
“We’re going from a prominent focus on crisis relief to transformation, to life change. So, this name really embodies that, signifies it, because that’s a journey,” Rocke says.
Through residential programs, PATHWAY Ministries can provide faith-based education, counseling, advocacy and work readiness training to get people back on their feet.
PATHWAY Ministries new logo also has significance.
“Poverty is brokenness that we all experience in the four fundamental relationships of life…our relationship with God, self, others and the rest of creation or work. And, if you see it in our logo, those for arrows represent those four relationships, and they’re all pointing to the Cross,” Rocke says.
PATHWAY Ministries serves men and women facing life-controlling circumstances through residential and community services at seven locations in Peoria.
