PEORIA, Ill. – The city of Peoria is looking to learn more about how you park downtown.
A survey is available from now until Feb. 14th on the city’s website and social media channels that asks a wide range of questions on the habits of those who park downtown.
“We want to make sure that we’re still providing the best possible options for people coming into downtown, and if they would like to see a different parking option, or something that we don’t offer right now, we want to make sure that we’re meeting all of those needs as trends have changed over time,” said Nick McMillion of Peoria Public Works.
McMillion says questions in the survey include reasons why people go downtown, where people park, and how far someone is willing to walk after parking.
He says there’s currently ample parking available downtown on the street and in parking garages. But the survey will also look to see if needs such as electric vehicle charging stations are needed, along with whether people prefer permits for parking.
McMillion says it will take about a month after the survey’s close to compile the data. It will then be presented to the City Council for discussion and potential action.
