PEORIA, Ill. – A home is a total loss after a Monday afternoon fire in South Peoria.
Peoria Fire says multiple crews responded just before 12:45 P.M. to the area of Charlton and Brotherson Streets.
Crews had to evacuate the two-story house while fighting the blaze due to heavy fire conditions, and were on scene for several hours putting it out.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be unattended incense. The home was deemed a total loss, and a dog died in the fire. Damage is estimated at around $60,000.
Three occupants of the home were displaced and received assistance from the Red Cross.
