PEORIA, Ill. – Six people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a multi-vehicle crash Monday involving a school bus.
The crash occurred in the area of Allen and Townline Roads just before 4:00 P.M., with Peoria Fire saying a school bus hit a pick-up truck. The bus then crashed into a nearby Arby’s restaurant.
Peoria Police say the bus was from Dunlap, and had students on it at the time of the crash.
Dunlap Assistant Superintendent Matt Andrews says the bus driver, a monitor, and two students were taken to the hospital. He says counselors will be available for students at all Dunlap schools for those who need it.
Two people in the pick-up truck were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
No injuries were reported inside the Arby’s.
Peoria Fire says the building received “significant” damage, and code enforcement was called in to assess the damage.

A Peoria Police spokeswoman says the crash occurred just before 4:00 P.M. at Allen and Townline Roads.
She says the bus struck two vehicles, then crashed into a nearby Arby’s restaurant.
The bus was transporting middle and high school students at the time. Dunlap Assistant Superintendent Matt Andrews says the bus driver, a monitor, and two students were taken to the hospital…but no serious injuries have been reported.
Andrews says counselors will be available for students in the Dunlap grade, middle, and high schools.
Police say two adults in a vehicle that were struck by the bus were also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No one in the restaurant was injured. The crash is under investigation.
