PEORIA, Ill. – Quest Charter Academy students are getting a preview this week of what the next school year in a new building could look like.
Quest is closing at the end of the school year after the Peoria Public Schools Board of Education decided to not renew Quest’s contract.
Open houses are being held Wednesday for around 160 middle school students and on Thursday 180 high school students. The middle school students are being spread between four middle schools next school year, while all high school students will attend Richwoods High School.
Kyla Luckett attended the open house at Rolling Acres Middle School with her 5th grade daughter, and tells 25 News she believes there’s more chances and opportunities for her daughter at Rolling Acres.
“I’m excited to see her evolve and grow, and experience all the different things that they offer,” Luckett said.
Teachers at Rolling Acres are also preparing for the move, with 7th and 8th grade teacher Jessica Rosenberg saying they want to help their new students excel.
“I really hope they get a chance to really improve their future in a really positive way, to meet people that help them succeed, and to have teachers that encourage them,” Rosenberg said.
Peoria Public Schools says the school each student will be assigned to is based on location and transportation needs.
