PEORIA, Ill. – CEFCU has committed $100,000 to help combat homelessness in Peoria.
The capital equity commitment is going to Phoenix Manor, a permanent housing development that’s being developed at the former Methodist College building at 415 St. Mark’s Court in downtown Peoria.
Phoenix Community Development Services says the building will include 55 apartments for individuals and families experiencing homelessness who would benefit from supportive services to maintain stable housing.
Phoenix CDS CEO Christine Kahl in a news release says Phoenix Manor will help alleviate the current waiting list for families experiencing homelessness in the Peoria region.
“Housing is a Human Right. Access to affordable, quality, permanent housing is critical to individual and community well-being. With the increase in homelessness in our community, these housing units are much needed,” Kahl says.
Groundbreaking for Phoenix Manor is expected next fall.
