MARSHALL AND PUTNAM COUNTIES, Ill. – What the National Weather Service called a “small complex” of storms caused mostly hail in the Peoria, but to our north, at least one tornado.
The Weather Service says they received multiple reports of penny to quarter-sized hail late Thursday afternoon through the area.
But, the Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado formed in Marshall County and traveled for about ten miles into nearby Putnam County before dissipating.
Forecasters say maximum winds were reported to be close to 110 miles per hour at one point.
Several trees were reported to be uprooted and some grain bins and outbuildings were damaged.
No one was hurt.
