MORTON, Ill. – A man who reportedly had a rifle and was yelling at passers-by to call the police caused a school to go on lockdown for a while Thursday.
Police in Morton say it happened just after 11 a.m. near Fourth and Washington Streets.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a man matching the description of the armed person at the back of a home.
Police found a shotgun on a table, and took the man into custody, determining he was having a mental health crisis.
More guns were later found in the home.
Jefferson Grade School in Morton is now being given the all clear following a lockdown.
