WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an unusual move, the Department of Justice wrote to the White House Counsel last week telling them that special counsel Robert Hur’s report “was consistent with legal requirements and Department policy.”
The president’s lawyers previously wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland objecting to the report’s comments on Biden’s memory.
The DOJ says that language is “not offered to criticize or demean the President.” Meanwhile, the White House Counsel is accusing media outlets of “striking inaccuracies” that “misrepresent” the special counsel’s report about President Biden.
The Biden administration has been vocal about Hur’s comments, calling his work “politically motivated.”
The White House says Hur raised the issue of Beau Biden’s death in an interview, but FOX News confirms it was President Biden who first brought it up.
Hur is set to testify before Congress on March 12, where President Biden’s age and memory will likely be a topic of discussion.
