PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man will spend what could be the rest of his life in prison after being convicted last September of the murder of a teenager.
Court records indicate a judge Friday sentenced Jeremy Moore, Jr., to 80 years in prison on a count of First Degree Murder.
Under the State’s Truth in Sentencing Law, Moore must serve the entire sentence.
Moore, Gary Irby III, 21, and Tyranique White, 20, were all accused of having roles in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jerry Snipes, Junior, in October of 2021 near Linn and Corrington.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney says Moore deserved a life sentence due to “the cold and calculated nature” of the death.
Irby is scheduled for trial in May, while White does not yet have a trial date.
