PEORIA, Ill. – There’s a new presenting sponsor for this year’s Fourth of July fireworks show along the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts.
It’s now going to be called “Choose Greater Peoria Red, White, and Boom.”
“This partnership with ‘Red, White, and Boom’ – that is a huge, quality of life amenity,” said Laura Cullina, president, Gilmore Foundation, one of the entities behind “Choose Greater Peoria.” “This is the biggest event downstate – the top fireworks show in all of Illinois. This is just a great partnership and we’re grateful to be a part of it.”
Cullinan tells us the interest in Peoria by people looking for jobs and who want to stay here has been great, so “Choose Greater Peoria” is off to a great start.
“We haven’t even been live for one year, but we’re getting around 80 resumes a week, and we characterize about 50 of those as ‘qualified.’ So, we’re sending 50 qualified people to our investor businesses every week,” said Cullinan.
Cullinan says one of the key components of employee retention and attraction is quality of life, and a big fireworks show like the one along the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts can certainly be that, along with other area offerings.
WMBD is one of the Midwest Communications stations behind “Red, White, and Boom” every year.
