RUSHVILLE, Ill. – Three children are among five people dead in total after a fatal crash Monday morning in Schuyler County.
Illinois State Police say the crash occurred at around 11:30 A.M. on U.S. Route 24 at Parkview Road near Rushville.
That’s where police say a bus traveling eastbound on Route 24 crossed into the westbound lane for unknown reasons, and struck a semi-truck head-on.
Police say both vehicles were engulfed in flames.
The three children on the bus, the bus driver, and the semi-truck driver all died. State police say the ages of the victims ranged from 3 to 72.
Schuyler County Coroner Terry Millslagle says all families of the deceased have been notified, and autopsies are pending.
