SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The all clear has been given at the Illinois State Capitol in Springfield.
Governor J.B. Pritzker says the building is no longer in a lockdown after a threat was reported Tuesday afternoon.
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias reported the threat and lockdown at around 2:15 P.M. He says the Secretary of State Police conducted a sweep of the building out of caution.
There’s no official word on what the threat was or entailed.
In a post on X, Pritzker thanked first responders for their “quick response” and for going “above and beyond” to keep everyone safe.
Lieutenant Governor Juilana Stratton says she is “grateful” for the “bravery and expertise” of the first responders on scene.
The Illinois State Capitol Building is no longer under lockdown.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Illinois State Capitol building in Springfield has been placed in a lockdown.
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias on X says the Secretary of State Police received a notice of a threat involving the building.
The Illinois Freedom Caucus, also in a post on X, says they were ordered to shelter in place.
A lockdown was placed and police are currently conducting a sweep of the building.
