PEKIN, Ill. – Police in Pekin say a man was arrested Monday after the fire alarm went off at a local motel, but turned in to a drug bust.
Pekin Police say Gregg Howell, 46, was taken to jail on charges of Aggravated Methamphetamine Manufacturing and Possession of Meth.
Police Chief Seth Ranney tells 25 News fire crews went to Mineral Springs Motel on Court Street, they noticed a strong chemical smell and discovered items believed to be used in meth making.
The Peoria Police bomb squad was called after what Ranney describes as items that can be used to make explosives also were found.
The motel was evacuated as a precaution.
No word on any injuries.
