PEORIA, Ill. – A man has been found guilty for his role in a crash in central Peoria more than three years ago that killed a woman.
Adrian Gregory, 32, was found guilty Wednesday of Reckless Homicide and Aggravated Reckless Driving.
Prosecutors say Gregory was behind the wheel of a westbound vehicle on Reservoir Blvd. on the morning of November 20th, 2020.
Surveillance cameras and black box data show he was traveling more than 90 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. He was also reportedly passing cars through the center turn lane, and sped past a bus stop with waiting passengers.
At the intersection with Rochelle, Gregory reportedly crossed over the center turn lane into the eastbound lane and crashed into another vehicle.
The crash killed his passenger and girlfriend, Aries Terrell, 35, and severely injured the driver of the other vehicle.
Gregory is scheduled to be sentenced May 15th. He is currently serving a 10-year sentence on an unrelated Aggravated Battery case, and the state’s attorney’s office plans to ask any sentence to be served after that.
