GERMANTOWN HILLS, Ill. – Two people died after a single-vehicle crash near Germantown Hills in Woodford County Thursday evening.
Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman says the crash occurred just before 7:30 P.M. in the westbound lanes of Illinois Route 116. He says that’s where the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.
Ruestman says Brian Brunson of East Peoria, 37, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He says an autopsy and toxicology tests will be conducted to determine a cause of death.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says the driver of the vehicle Thomas Wood of Pekin, 33, was pronounced dead at OSF HealthCare St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Harwood says Wood suffered multiple blunt force trauma injuries and likely died moments following the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
