PEORIA, Ill. – It’s colder than the last few days, but the annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will travel through parts of downtown Peoria nonetheless on Sunday.
Peoria Police say parade lineup will be along Monroe from Wayne to Fayette Streets, and on Hancock Street from Monroe to Jefferson.
The parade route itself starts on Fayette, going to Main, then Main down to Adams, and Adams down to Hamilton, where participants will split up.
From approximately 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Peoria Police say the following intersections will be closed:
• Monroe & Wayne
• Monroe & Green
• Monroe & Hancock
• Monroe & Bryan
• Monroe & Spalding
• Monroe & Fayette
• Monroe & Main
• Main & Madison
• Main & Jefferson
• Main & Adams
Police say those traveling downtown should give themselves extra time, including being aware of “significant pedestrian traffic,” and any celebrating should be done safely.
