CHICAGO, Ill. – Whether it’s luck or strategy, Saturday night could be your next chance to strike it rich.
The Powerball jackpot is making its way closer to $1 billion, currently estimated at $750 million. No ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing. But, 27 players did nab at least $50,000 each, according to FOX News.
The last winner of the Powerball was in January, when a ticket matched all the numbers to win over $842 million. Since then, there have been 34 consecutive drawings with no big winner.
According to the lottery, the estimated cash value of the Powerball jackpot is $361 million.
There were no top prize winners in Friday’s $977 million Mega Millions drawing either. That means Tuesday’s drawing will be worth a staggering $1.1 billion dollars, the eighth largest lottery ever.
A jackpot winner that opts for the lump sum cash Mega Millions prize would take home nearly $526 million before taxes. The jackpot has been growing since December 8, when two tickets in California claimed a $394 million prize.
