UPDATE 9:19 A.M.
PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the young man who was shot and killed Tuesday night in Peoria.
Harwood says the victim is 18-year-old MikeQuese Taylor of Peoria. Taylor was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center, where he died.
An autopsy is scheduled for later in the day Wednesday.
PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says an 18-year-old male has died after being shot near the intersection of Forrest Hill and Knoxville Avenues Tuesday night.
The shooting happened around 7:20 p.m. A Peoria Police officer patrolling the area heard shots fired, then seconds later a Shot Spotter alert of three rounds fired was activated.
Police Spokesperson Semone Roth says when officers arrived, they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity and cause of death will be released by the coroner. This appears to be Peoria’s fifth homicide of 2024.
Police have no suspects at this time. An investigation is underway.
