Peoria garage fire deemed accidental. Here’s what we know

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a home on John Gwynn Avenue Sunday evening for a fire.

Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says crews arrived at 6:42 p.m., finding heavy smoke and flames showing from a detached garage. They had the fire under control within 10 minutes.

Carter says the garage was full of equipment and a vehicle. All of the contents were a total loss.

A fire investigator and arson dog determined the fire was accidental. Damage is estimated at $40,000.

No injuries were reported.
