PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman has pleaded guilty to a lesser murder charge in relation to the stabbing death of her boyfriend last year.
25 News reports 23-year-old Heaven Kruzan on Thursday pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder in the death of 34-year-old Lamario Billups.
A First Degree Murder charge was dismissed by prosecutors.
Billups was found with a stab wound to the chest at a house on South Stanley Street on March 8th, 2023.
An earlier court hearing revealed that a person in the home had heard Kruzan yelling, ran downstairs, and saw Billups lying across Kruzan’s lap.
She had reportedly told police that Billups grabbed her by the arm after they were arguing.
Kruzan is scheduled to be sentenced on June 26th, and is facing up to 20 years in prison.
