PEORIA, Ill. – Want farm-fresh food, artisan crafts, entertainment and more?
Look no further than the Peoria Riverfront Market. It’s back for a 21st season this Saturday, May 18.
The Peoria Riverfront Association’s Sharon Gramm tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, the downtown market has grown significantly over the last several years.
“Last year, we hit over 5,000 people on most Saturdays. We start off a little bit smaller when we kick off, and as the season moves along we add some vendors,” Gramm says.
The Peoria Riverfront Market is a “Producers Only Market”, Gramm adds.
“All of the vendors there have grown, made or created the things that they are selling. And, that’s why if you’re coming for the first time, you won’t find melons and sweet corn at the beginning of the season. Everything has to be grown by the farm that’s selling it…it has to be grown within the state of Illinois,” Gramm says.
You can also buy pottery, jewelry, candles, soaps and more from local artisans…with the opportunity to learn how their items were made.
There is also entertainment at the market each weekend.
The Peoria Riverfront Market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m.- noon through the end of September.
