PEORIA, Ill. – Average gas prices in Peoria have dropped 3.1 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.68 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations in Peoria.
Peoria’s prices are 10.6 cents lower than a month ago, and 2.7 cents a gallon higher than this time last year.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.51 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.89. The lowest priced gas in Illinois was $3.18 a gallon, while the highest priced gas was $5.19.
The national average price of gas has dropped 3.5 cents in the last week, averaging $3.55 a gallon on Monday. The national average is down 12 cents from a month ago, and 2.2 cents higher than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data.
“The news continues to be good for motorists ahead of Memorial Day, with gasoline prices again falling, making it four straight weeks of declines for the national average as we get closer to the start of the summer driving season,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.”
Meanwhile, AAA says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area is $3.69 as of Monday, the state’s average price is $3.87, and the national average gas price is $3.59.
