PEKIN, Ill. – The man accused of having an improvised explosive device in Pekin last week has been identified.
25 News reports Dalton Mattus is facing charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possessing explosives or incendiary devices.
Pekin Police made a traffic stop just after 3:00 A.M. Friday on Capitol Street, where Mattus was a passenger.
Police reportedly found drug paraphernalia and a green canvas pouch with a padlock securing it under the driver’s seat.
Mattus told police the bag belonged to him and they would need a warrant to search it.
A warranted search by police reportedly found a loaded gun and two homemade incendiary devices inside. The devices allegedly had fuses with BB’s visible in the end of one device.
The surrounding area was evacuated and police searched Mattus’ home.
The driver, Dani Hess, was arrested for driving with a revoked license, with the vehicle being impounded.
