PEKIN, Ill. – A Tazewell County judge has ordered a man alleged to have had pipe bombs to remain in jail until his trial.
25 News reports 34-year-old Dalton Mattus will be back in court June 20th after being ordered held by a judge Wednesday, citing a concern for public safety.
Mattus and a female driver were pulled over on Capitol Street in the early morning hours of May 17th.
Police reportedly found a locked bag while searching the vehicle, where a loaded handgun and two pipe bombs were allegedly found inside them.
Three more pipe bombs, bomb-making materials, and ammunition were allegedly found in Mattus’ apartment.
He reportedly told police that he did not intend to hurt anyone, but made the explosives for protection from “undocumented immigrants and a corrupt government.”
