PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools’ Woodruff Career and Technical Center is expanding, adding new courses of study and offering programs to a wider range of students starting next year.
Dr. Susan Grzanich tells WMBD’s Greg and Dan, career pathway certification can be earned in one or two years.
“They get offered full-time jobs, or they might be going on to take college classes, but stay in that pathway as well. We graduated over 100 students just this past year that completed their full pathway,” Grzanich says.
Students at Woodruff Career and Technical Center currently can be certified in Barbering, Cosmetology, Autobody and Collision Technology, Construction, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Emergency Services, Health Care, Renewable Energy, Drone Tech and Manufacturing.
Grzanich says next school year, Woodruff is adding new career paths in HVAC and Business.
Also next year, Sophomores will be able to attend Woodruff for the first time.
“What we’re changing up is, we’re offering full-day options for some students…and that will start with Sophomores, and then Juniors and Seniors. We have about 75 or so students that have elected to do a full-day option…where they will get all of their core classes there as well as earning their career certifications through their pathway,” Grzanich says.
