EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois Central College made a big announcement Monday morning on WMBD Radio’s “Greg and Dan Show.”
ICC President Sheila Quirk-Bailey says the college has a new vice president of institutional advancement.
“We think some of you may have heard of him before…so we are just delighted to welcome him on his first day, Mike Unes,” Quirk-Bailey says.
Unes’ new role at ICC will focus on fundraising, which he says could include bringing new programs, new scholarships for students, and new infrastructure to further the success and growth of ICC’s three campuses in East Peoria, Peoria and Pekin.
The former 91st District representative of the Illinois State House, is a Peoria-native, bringing over 25 years of leadership in public service, fundraising and non-profit operations to Illinois Central College.
Unes joins ICC following a successful tenure as Vice President at UnityPoint Health/Carle Health.
Unes says he’s honored to be joining ICC to spearhead its fundraising efforts. He says fundraising is all about building relationships and serving the needs of the community.
“Truly there is something for everyone at the college. I would argue there’s not a person, there’s not an organization, there’s not an institution that Illinois Central College doesn’t touch,” Unes says.
Unes adds, “The relationships Dr. Quirk-Bailey has already formed in the surrounding areas, is impressive and obvious…combine that with the leverage that we’re going to be able to do, and working with the relationships that each of us have, to team up and build something even greater, that has already been started at Illinois Central College…I think it’s going to make a great team.”
Quirk-Bailey says, “Under his (Unes’) guidance, ICC will reach new heights in changing the trajectory of lives in the Central Illinois community.”
