Average gas prices in Peoria have dropped 7.6 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.64 on Monday, according to GasBuddy.
Local prices are nearly eight cents lower than a month ago, and about a half cent lower than this time last year.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria was $3.39 a gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive gas was $3.89. The lowest price in Illinois on Sunday was $2.94 a gallon, while the most expensive gas in the state was $5.19.
The national average price of unleaded gas has dropped 10 cents in the last week, averaging $3.40 a gallon on Monday, down 23 cents from a month ago, and just over 18 cents a gallon lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy data.
“We’ve seen one of the larger weekly drops in the national average price of gasoline in some time, and what incredible timing that it comes at the beginning of the summer driving season,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, AAA says the national average gas price is $3.44 as of Monday, the average price in the Peoria/Pekin metro area is $3.63 and the state’s average gas price is $3.79 a gallon.
