PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home on W. Humboldt in Peoria Sunday night on reports of a fire.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says when they arrived, crews found heavy smoke and fire on the first and second floors of the three-story home.
Power and gas were shut off as firefighters battled the flames, and cut multiple holes into the roof to vent smoke and heat out of the home.
The home was vacant and boarded up.
Crews remained on the scene for several hours extinguishing hot spots.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The fire remains under investigation. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
