PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home in Peoria’s East Bluff Tuesday night that was undergoing some renovations.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says when they arrived shortly after 6:15 p.m., crews found heavy smoke and flames showing from the front of the house on E. Republic Street.
It took them roughly 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
An arson dog was called to the scene, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Damage to the home was severe enough that a partial demolition of the porch area was required. There was also smoke damage throughout the house.
Damage is estimated at $60,000.
