PEORIA, Ill. – Two teenagers have been charged in connection to a pair of shootings from last weekend throughout Peoria.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office on Friday says a petition to detain 19-year-old Christopher Cleary was granted, while one to detain 18-year-old Camarion Puryear was denied.
The first shooting occurred at around 9:00 P.M. on June 7th in the area of Frye and Indiana, where two vehicles were struck by gunfire and 63 shell casings were recovered.
Just after 6:45 P.M. on June 9th, a home and a vehicle were struck by gunfire in the area of Hanssler and Broadway. 51 shell casings were recovered from the scene.
A blue Dodge Caliber was developed as the suspect vehicle in both shootings.
Prosecutors say Cleary and Puryear were taken into custody on Wednesday, with Cleary reportedly admitting that Dodge and two guns found inside it were his. Shell casings from both guns reportedly matched those recovered at the scene of both shootings.
Clearly is facing two counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and three counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
Puryear is facing one count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
