PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Park District has announced plans for its revamped July 3rd celebration in Glen Oak Park.
The park’s board canceled the annual fireworks show in the park in March in order to have a reimagined event.
This year’s event is called “Streets Belong to Me: Glen Oak Park” and will run from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
The park district says the free event will feature live entertainment, bounce houses, an obstacle course, and $3 discounted admission to the Peoria Zoo and Peoria Playhouse Children’s Museum on the park’s grounds.
Executive Director Emily Cahill says they have been working over the past few months on an event that celebrates Peoria and the nation in a “safe, vibrant” way.
“We want to make sure that this is a positive experience for all who participate,” Cahill said. “While we know that some will miss the fireworks this year, we believe that we have planned a day of positive recreation, play and connection. We can’t wait to see the park filled with families and friends enjoying a great day and celebrating together.”
