PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been sentenced to a total of 10 years and a day in federal prison for possession of child porn, depicting sexual abuse of children.
43-year-old Jack Lee Nimrick was handed his sentence on Monday. He was previously convicted of distributing child pornography in 2015, and sentenced to nine years in prison for that offense, followed by 15 years of supervised release.
Nimrick was also required to register as a sex offender.
While serving his supervised release, a probation officer found Nimrick in possession of an unmonitored and unapproved cell phone capable of connecting him to the internet.
Homeland Security agents found over 150 computer-generated images and more than 50 videos depicting sexual abuse of children on that phone.
The abuse depicted involved children ranging in age from four years to teenagers.
Nimrick was arrested in October 2023 on supervised release revocation charges, and a federal grand jury indicted him for possession of obscene images in November 2023.
He entered a guilty plea in March, and at a sentencing hearing this week, Nimrick also admitted that he had violated conditions of his supervised release. He’s remained in U.S. Marshals custody since his arrest.
Nimrick will serve a three-year term of supervised release once he’s let out of prison.
Based on Nimrick’s prior conviction, he faced an enhanced statutory penalty of ten to twenty years in prison, followed by up to a three-year term of supervised release.
