PEORIA, Ill. – Former Reditus Labs CEO Aaron Rossi pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that he made himself richer at the expense of state taxpayers and health insurance companies.
According to 25 News, Rossi appeared in a Peoria federal courtroom to answer to a half-dozen counts of healthcare fraud, a single count of mail fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
All of the charges are tied to his handling of Pekin-based Reditus Labs, which won lucrative COVID-testing contracts from the state during the height of the pandemic.
A grand jury handed Rossi new indictments on June 18, alleging he billed both the state and healthcare providers for the same COVID tests, enabling him to be paid twice.
The indictments also allege Rossi received payment for services never performed.
A pretrial hearing is set for July 17, and a jury trial is set to begin on August 26.
Rossi is scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday for a guilty plea in February to filing false federal tax returns from 2015 to 2017, and taking money from a former employer, Central Illinois Orthopedic Surgery, in Bloomington.
Rossi has been jailed since last September for multiple bond violations.
