PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department says one person was injured after a crash involving two semis and a passenger vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.
Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Hascall says it happened on eastbound I-74 at the Knoxville Avenue exit.
A large amount of oil and coolant from the semi’s motors spilled onto the interstate, and crews used absorbent to clean it up.
Due to the size of the spill, it took firefighters nearly three hours to clean up the mess at the scene. Multiple engines and hazmat crews were involved.
One of the drivers was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. The two other drivers refused treatment.
