PEORIA, Ill. – In the wake of a global tech outage early Friday morning, some flights in and out of Peoria International Airport are experiencing delays.
A few early flights Friday morning to Punta Gorda, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada, cancelled.
Director of Airports, Gene Olson, says as of Friday afternoon, most flights are running on-time. Still there are a few delayed.
“The only system that we have that’s affected is our flight information display system, or FIDS as we call it, and the computer screens that are inside the building are actually showing correct information, because we can manually update those. The version of that which goes over the internet, and is shown on our website (flypia.com), is not correct because we’re not able to update that,” Olson says.
Olson suggests checking with your airline’s website for your flight’s status well before departure or arrival time.
“United and American (Airlines), I think their computers have been somewhat restored, there are still a few processes that they’re using manual work-arounds to take care of a couple things. But, in general, they’re back to normal business. But, Allegiant computers, I’d say were more impacted,” Olson says.
