PEORIA, Ill. โ Peoria City Soccer will stay home, again, as they continue their USL2 playoff run.
After a thrilling victory Sunday at Shea Stadium over the Des Moines Menace, Peoria City learned Monday it will host the Central and Western Conference championships this weekend.
The Western Conference title game will take place at 3:30 P.M. Friday between Project 510 out of Oakland, California and FC Tucson of Arizona. The Central Conference Championship game between the Carp and the Flint City Bucks will follow at 7:30 P.M.
The winners will play Sunday at 1:30 P.M. in the national semifinals.
Peoria City President Jim DeRose praised the teamโs resolve after Sundayโs match.
โIt begins and ends with the players. Their performance today had so much resolve. Going up a goal, down a goal, scoring a man down, and then heading into penalty kicks. You could go through our entire team and find something to say about each and every one of them,โ DeRose said.
DeRose also expressed gratitude for the support from the Peoria community during the teamโs three years in existence.

PEORIA, Ill. โ In what the league itself is calling a โMidwest Miracle,โ Peoria City found a way to keep its season alive on Sunday afternoon.
Peoria City advanced to the USL2 Central Conference Final after a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over the Des Moines Menace. The conference final round is also the national quarterfinals.
The win is the first time Peoria City has defeated Des Moines in its three-year history, and is also the furthest the team has ever advanced in the USL2 playoffs.
The shootout came after the match finished 5-5 in extra time, with both teams scoring twice in the extra time.
Peoria native Fritz Volmar scored the tying goal in the last seconds of the extra time to send it to penalties.
Carp goaltender Samy Slimi, who won Man of the Match honors, made two saves in the shootout. Washington-native Myles Sophanavong scored the winning penalty.
Peoria City will take on the Flint City Bucks next. The time, date, and location to be determined.
