PARIS – Germantown Hills is now home to an Olympic medalist.
Anna Peplowski will take home silver from Paris after being a part of the United States swimming 4×200 meter freestyle relay time.
Peplowski swam the lead leg earlier Thursday morning to help the United States win their qualifying heat.
But she was not a part of the team in Thursday afternoon’s final that finished second behind Australia.
The team in the final included Katie Ledecky, who earned her 13th Olympic medal, which is now the most medals ever by any female American swimmer.

PARIS – Germantown Hills native and former Metamora High School swimmer Anna Peplowski made her Olympic debut in Paris Thursday morning…leading off the U.S. team in women’s 4×200-meter relay.
The U.S. finished first in the preliminary heat, with a time of 7:52.72. The finals are set for Thursday afternoon.
According to the Peoria Journal Star, Peplowski finished the lead leg of the race in 1 minute, 57.9 seconds.
The U.S. women’s team, made up of Peplowski, Erin Gemmell, Simone Manuel and Alex Schackell, beat out Brazil and Great Britain, who finished second and third in the first heat.
Peplowski was expected to only swim in the preliminaries, but NBC analysts are speculating that she might be added to the U.S. lineup for the finals.
U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky will join the women’s team for the 4×200 final. Ladecky enters the finals with eight Olympic gold medals and 12 medals overall, tying the record for most medals won by a female swimmer at the Olympics.
