PEORIA, Ill. – Central Illinois’ premier arts festival returns to Peoria this weekend.
Ignite Peoria, being held at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, showcasing local makers, artists, musicians, dancers, innovators and more.
“It is Central Illinois’ premier arts and makers fest, and it is huge. We take over a good chunk of the Civic Center,” Dr. Mae Gilliland Wright, with Arts’ Partners says.
She tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan”, this year’s festival will also feature an expanded Sensory Ignite program.
“It has traditionally been a resource fair, for folks with sensory sensitivities, but now we’re actually going to be having activities for them as well…and it’s for people of all ages. We’re going to have Black Light painting, we’ll have a Calm Room, and even if you don’t have sensitivities, it’s a really great place to get away from the crowd for a minute,” Gilliland Wright says.
This year’s Ignite Peoria will also feature hands-on creation stations, 3D printing, robotics, and a bike and car show.
Ignite Peoria runs from 9-5 Saturday at the Peoria Civic Center, with free admission and free parking.
