PEORIA, Ill. – Two teenage boys were arrested after an armed robbery at a McDonald’s in Peoria Wednesday morning.
Peoria Police says officers were dispatched to the location on Knoxville just after 9:45 A.M., spotting a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old fleeing the area on foot during a search.
One of the teens was taken into custody in the area of Nebraska and Indiana, where police also reportedly found a discarded shotgun in the flight path taken.
The other, reportedly with a backpack containing an undisclosed amount of money on them, was taken into custody in the area of Republic between Peoria and Wisconsin.
Both teens were arrested on charges of Armed Robbery, Criminal Damage to Property, Criminal Trespass to a Residence, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, and Resisting Police.
They were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Two juveniles reportedly took money and fled, with witnesses saying one of the suspects was armed with a shotgun.
Police say no one was hurt.
Glen Oak Community Learning Center was placed on lockdown as a safety precaution.
The incident is still under investigation.
