WASHINGTON, Ill. – The cause of death of a subcontractor from Michigan at the Caterpillar Peoria Proving Ground in Washington has been revealed.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says the victim is 36-year-old Justin Perry, who was pronounced dead at the scene at around 11:15 P.M. on Wednesday.
Hanley says a preliminary autopsy conducted on Friday shows Perry died of compressional asphyxia due to entrapment under an electrical control box.
The death remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices, as well as OSHA.
