EAST PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois Central College is helping students applying for financial aid navigate issues with the latest version of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
ICC’s Director of Financial Aid Kyle Rindfleisch says the rollout of the 2024-25 application has been fairly bumpy, with some significant changes to the form.
“If a student is a dependent, they have to send a contributor link to the parent. That parent then has to provide the name, date of birth, Social Security number and email used to create the FSA ID must match 100-percent..if it doesn’t, then it errors out,” Rindfleisch says.
Many students are dealing with FAFSA delays and technical issues, causing confusion and frustration.
“We’re really here to help at this point and time. We’ve had students and families take advantage of that…and we’ve seen FAFSA completions be done in 10 minutes, and then if we’ve have to do FAFSA ID creation and a FAFSA password reset, or recovery of things, it does take a bit longer,” Rindfleisch says.
ICC –East Peoria is extending “help hours” for students and families needing assistance to complete their FAFSA application.
August 12-15, the college will offer personalized one-on-one sessions with a Financial Aid Specialist from 4:30 – 6 p.m. In addition to expert guidance, ICC is also providing free pizza.
Interested students can register online HERE.
ICC is also holding extended hours on Saturday, August 10 and Saturday, August 17, from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. to help students register for fall classes.
