PEORIA, Ill. – A Pekin man will spend time in federal prison after enticing a minor online.
43-year-old Kenneth Holobaugh was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison, which is to be followed by 15 years of supervised release.
The Department of Justice says Holobaugh communicated with what he believed to be a 13-year-old girl on a social media platform from April of 2023 to January 2024.
Prosecutors say Holobaugh drove to a location in Peoria with the intention to meet with and have sex with the girl, but was arrested by federal law enforcement when he arrived.
Holobaugh was indicted in February and pleaded guilty in April.
The Department of Justice says he was previously convicted of aggravated criminial sexual abuse in July of 2001 and was required to register as a sex offender.
