PEKIN, Ill. – Pekin Police have arrested a man in connection with a SWAT situation that happened Wednesday afternoon.
The Police Department says they obtained a search warrant Wednesday for a home on Don Court for Christopher Golden, who was believed to be inside the home.
Golden had an active Tazewell County Warrant for aggravated DUI and a Peoria County Warrant for possession of methamphetamine, according to Pekin Police Chief Seth Ranney.
Police say Golden was reportedly armed Tuesday night with multiple weapons, and made threats towards officers.
Due to that information, and a recent threat to kill officers if they tried to arrest him, the Central Illinois Emergency Response Team requested to serve Golden the search warrant.
When officers arrived, Golden came out of the home armed with a knife, aggressively moving towards them.
Ranney says several non-lethal projectiles were deployed at Golden, then he went back into the home.
Police established a dialogue on the phone with Golden before he surrendered. He was taken into custody for the two active warrants, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
