EL PASO, Ill. – The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred near El Paso.
The accident happened around 3:45 a.m. Saturday on Route 24 near the intersection of 2500E.
Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword says the sheriff’s office received a call of a single vehicle crash. Deputies arrived to find a 2006 red Dodge Charger in a ditch. The vehicle had come in contact with a power pole on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The only two occupants of the car, two men in their early 20s, were discovered deceased in the vehicle.
An investigation revealed the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed while traveling westbound on Route 24. Open alcohol was found inside the vehicle.
The Woodford County Coroner’s Office is also assisting in the investigation.
