PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home in North Peoria Sunday afternoon that caused roughly $60,000 damage.
The Peoria Fire Department says the fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. on N. Picture Ridge Road, off Knoxville Avenue.
Smoke was seen coming from the roof of the home when crews arrived.
A fire in the kitchen was put out quickly, though six cats inside the home did not survive.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was determined to be accidental.
