TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. – A 90-year-old man from rural Tremont was the victim in a fatal crash Saturday afternoon in rural Green Valley.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says Elmer Papenhause was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash just before 12:30 P.M.
The two-vehicle crash occurred just after 11: 15 A.M. in the intersection of Towerline Road and Toboggan Avenue, where Papenhause was the sole occupant in a pickup truck.
Hanley says preliminary findings from an autopsy Monday showed Papenhause died of multiple blunt force injuries.
He says four people in the other pickup truck involved were taken to a Peoria hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Tazewell County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices and Illinois State Police.
