PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Park District is transforming its Golf Learning Center, on N. Radnor Road, into an interactive golf facility.
“The Peoria Park District has always evolved to meet the changing needs of our patrons and to enhance the vibrancy of the communities we serve. Keeping up with the times is crucial, and we’re excited to bring this state-of-the-art golf experience to Peoria,” Park District Executive Director Emily Cahill says.
The project, slated to open next spring, is largely funded by the state’s Department of Economic Opportunity, facilitated by State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth.
“This is so incredible…this will bring in people from all around the region. Because we know when our park district says we’re going to do something, nobody does it better,” Gordon-Booth says.
Cahill says the facility will feature a 21-bay electronic driving range, an indoor golf simulator and a full-service restaurant.
“This should be a comfortable place where families can come to share a meal, an activity, and really share joy…that is the single biggest foundation for this community is bringing back family time together,” says Courtney Rixner of Peoria’s Fox Pub.
The restaurant and bar inside the facility will be a collaboration between the park district, Fox Pub and the former owner of Bearded Owl Brewery, Nick Babcock.
The Park District’s board approved a $4.46 million bid from Peoria Metro Construction at the end of June.
Cahill says the 9-hole Skills Course and Driving Range will stay open during construction, with some limitations.
