PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County grand jury has indicted an Ohio man who is still on the run from police.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 45-year-old Victor Farris was indicted Tuesday for Vehicular Hijacking, Kidnapping, and Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. A warrant has also been issued for Farris’ arrest.
“This defendant recklessly endangered a small child, injured another person, and put fear into a community,” said Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos. “Because he is still on the run, I wanted to quickly get indictment warrants to insure he stays in custody when police find him.”
Farris has been on the run from police since last Wednesday, when he allegedly stole a vehicle with a three-year-old child inside it in Peoria. The child was later found safe in Bartonville at a gas station.
Police say Farris may be in the northern portions of Peoria County.
